As we get older, we realize that no, it's not all good.
When we're young, every path is new and shiny and shouldn't be disparaged because there's no way to know which path is good for any given person!
But when we've followed more of the paths, we discover that some paths never end well, no matter how well-suited the walker thinks it is. And we figure out, hopefully, that following a heartbreaking path doesn't make the person lesser than, or undeserving of a better path. It only means they're in need of help; which does not obligate you to help them, but it does obligate you to avoid disparaging or harming them. We can't even take a high ground. After all, we learned this through trial and error ourselves.
No, not every choice is good, even when chosen for oneself. Knowing that, is a grieving process, but it should also be a directive to be kind, always.
